Clogher Valley Free Presbyterian church was burgled this week, sometime between 3pm Tuesday and 9am Wednesday.
A Roman Catholic church nearby was also burgled during the same time frame.
We condemn the actions of these burglars and hope they are soon apprehended by the Police.
However we are alarmed at some of the statements made by the Minister of Clogher Valley Free Presbyterian church Peter McIntyre.
According to the NewsLetter article below, the two churches have “expressed solidarity with each other,” and Mr.Mc Intyre stated,
“The chapel in Fivemiletown was robbed last night down the road. I think it is just atrocious that thieves are burgling places where people are worshipping God – especially at Christmas time when we all really cherish Him who came to live among us.” (end of quote)
This statement begs the question, “Does the Free Presbyterian church now recognise the Roman Catholic church as a true Christian church where people are “worshipping God,” or was Mr. McIntyre speaking for himself and Clogher Valley Free Presbyterian church only?
We are not members of the Free Presbyterian church. However we are Evangelical Christians and we have been observing the downgrade of the FPC of Ulster for several years now.
We could give many examples of compromise in that denomination but we will mention a few only, in addition to that above.
Mervyn Storey, an elder at Hebron Free Presbyterian church and a prominent member of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) infamously defended a £3,500 grant to a festival which showed a blasphemous play about the Lord Jesus Christ, and, not only was he not disciplined by his church, he continues to have a prominent role in Sunday services in that church.
Just recently we learned that a “Beauty and the Beast” pamper session was to take place at an unnamed Free Presbyterian church. This worldly activity would have been unheard of in that denomination some years ago.
The retired Free Presbyterian Minister David McIlveen is often heard on radio representing his denomination, yet he has been PC in his utterances for years and is so softly-softly and non-judgemental in his approach that he is pitiful to listen to.
Today he was a guest on the BBC radio programme “Talkback” and the discussion was about sodomite “marriage.” The host of the show is one William Crawley who makes no attempt to hide his pro-LGBT bias.
David McIlveen pandered to the homosexual who was a guest on the programme and was his usual softly-softly practically useless self.
It was left to a caller to tell it like it is and describe sodomy as filthy and an abomination and the caller was not a Christian!!
The truth spoken by the caller was almost unbearable for Mr. Crawley’s delicate ears and he tripped over himself apologising for the “dehumanising” language of the caller.
So there we have it. The truth is “dehumanising.”
No Mr. Crawley, the truth is that which sets people free.
As an old Russian proverb put it, “One word of truth shall outweigh the whole world.
The Free Presbyterian church is making progress, that’s for sure. It is becoming progressively liberal.
