On Friday of this week, a Church of Ireland Cathedral (St. Macartins,) in Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, is hosting a fund-raising breakfast at a well-known hotel on the outskirts of the town.
The event will be addressed by a member of the British House of Lords, Baroness May Blood.
We are not members of the Church of Ireland, so why our interest in this event?
It is not the event that is of interest to us, but rather, the choice of speaker.
Baroness May Blood is a Labour member of the House of Lords. She is also pro-abortion, and, although she will not be speaking about abortion at the fund-raising breakfast, her pro-abortion views and advocacy characterise her every bit as much as her other views, such as “Community Relations,” which apparently is the subject of her talk.
Therefore, we believe that the Dean of St.Macartin’s Cathedral was wrong to invite her, and that, even at this late stage, he should withdraw his invitation.
However, having spoken to the man via telephone, and informed him about May Blood’s pro-abortion views, he has no intention of withdrawing his invitation.
This woman has been lauded with various honours and, no doubt, she will be lavished with flatteries in Fermanagh on Friday. It is highly unlikely that any of the fawning people present will raise the troubling matter of her appalling advocacy of abortion rights for Northern Ireland, as they tuck into their Ulster fry!
In conclusion, here is a direct quote from May Blood about her views on abortion, in which she states that she knows abortion is wrong but would still give women in Northern Ireland the “right” to have one.
“I have a very deep Christian faith that teaches me that abortion is wrong but I’ve never been in a position where I’ve had to make that choice.
“If I give women in Newcastle upon Tyne the right to have an abortion then I should give it to Newcastle in County Down. It’s her choice.” end of quote (see “A Whistle and a Crow” blog, article entitled, “There may be Blood.” April 24th, 2012
Then click on the following link to see a video featuring May Blood (and other notorious pro-aborts such as Audrey Simpson, Dawn Purvis and Anna Lo,) as they (and others) sit around a table at a Family Planning Association (FPA,) meeting. Listen carefully to the words of Audrey Simpson, and May Blood’s response. She is the white-haired elderly woman, for those who do not know what she looks like.
PS It is no surprise to us that May Blood is also a supporter of homosexual “rights.”
