1988 – Corporals Wood and Howes, and the bid to save them from a baying mob

Click on the following link, to read of the determined efforts on the part of some police officers, to save the lives of  two soldiers, who were in mortal danger, having fallen into the merciless hands of the IRA and their supporters.


Sadly, we know that the rescue attempt did not succeed, but it is encouraging to know that some police officers did all in their power to intervene, when it appeared (from watching the TV coverage,) that the two soldiers had been abandoned to their fate, by the British Army and the Police.
